VW Atlas Wins SUV of the Year at Hispanic Motor Press Awards

The Volkswagen Atlas is finishing out the year in style. The beloved 2024 Atlas received the prestigious title of SUV of the Year at the 2023 Hispanic Motor Press Awards (HMPA). This annual awards program, now in its 14th year, recognizes outstanding vehicles for Hispanic consumers based on various criteria, including styling, driving satisfaction, technology, safety, environmental impact, mechanical reliability, and value. The award was presented at AutoMobility LA to Volkswagen Group of America President and CEO Pablo Di Si by Hispanic Motor Press Foundation President Ricardo Rodriguez-Long.

The 2024 Atlas, a standout in Volkswagen’s lineup, boasts an elegant new interior and an upgraded turbocharged engine that enhances both performance and the overall driving experience compared to the previous model year. Featuring a four-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection TSI® engine, the 2024 Atlas delivers 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The new engine maintains similar power to the outgoing VR6® but offers increased torque over a broader rev range, enhancing drivability and acceleration. Standard features include an eight-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, and the option for Volkswagen’s 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system.

The interior of the 2024 Atlas has undergone a significant transformation, featuring premium materials such as a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console. The first-row door trim seamlessly integrates with the dash panel, creating a sophisticated cockpit that extends into the second row. Ambient lighting with 30 color options, coupled with backlit dash décor showcasing the model name, elevates the interior design.

Technological enhancements abound, with standard IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance technology, a 12-inch floating infotainment display, and a 10.25-inch fully configurable Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro. Connectivity is streamlined with wireless App-Connect, wireless charging, and six USB-C ports (eight available) with 45-watt fast charging. Additional standard features include a heated steering wheel with shift paddles, ventilated front seats, a height-adjustable passenger seat, Climatronic® automatic climate control, and Voice Control, providing a heightened level of comfort and convenience for drivers and passengers alike.
