The Volkswagen ID.7 is VW’s EV Flagship Model

Volkswagen is accelerating its electric revolution with the introduction of the ID.7, a premium midsize sedan boasting an advanced drivetrain, extended range, rapid charging, spacious interiors, a cutting-edge tech setup, and unwavering quality. Under the leadership of Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, the ID.7 aims to boost all-electric deliveries which have already seen a remarkable 31.8 percent increase in the first nine months of the year, totaling 273,000 vehicles.

The global launch of the ID.7 begins in Europe, featuring a 282-hp ID.7 Pro with an 82 kWh (gross) battery and an impressive Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) range of up to 386 miles (621 kilometers). Production for the European and North American markets will take place at Volkswagen’s electric mobility facility in Emden, Germany.

Exterior Design:

The ID.7’s design embodies flowing and muscular lines, featuring a distinctive three-dimensional hood design, LED headlights with a narrow daytime running lights strip, and unique side air intakes. The silhouette is defined by a character line below the window shoulder, showcasing powerful proportions. With a length of 195.3 inches, an extended 117-inch wheelbase, and a height of 60.5 inches, the ID.7 offers an elegant and powerful presence, setting a new standard as the lowest slung VW ID. model to date.

Interior and Technology:

The ID.7’s long wheelbase and compact drivetrain provide ample space in both rows, especially noticeable in the rear with generous legroom. Despite the integrated battery and lower body height, it offers good headroom, with features like an electric trunklid providing access to a luggage compartment with up to 18.8 cu ft capacity (expandable to 56.0 cu ft). The interior introduces a newly designed, horizontal dash panel with integrated trim and air vents.

Equipped with a standard augmented-reality (AR) head-up display, the ID.7 ensures relevant journey information is seamlessly projected into the driver’s field of vision. The AR head-up display blends various details like speed, lane markings, distance warnings, and turn arrows directly into the driver’s line of sight. The all-new 15-inch infotainment touchscreen display features a user-friendly interface with customizable options, including a Car Control Center for easy access to vital vehicle functions.

The ID.7’s advanced climate control includes smart air vents with electronically controlled motors for efficient and automated air distribution. With a 30-color ambient lighting system, a harman/kardon 700W premium sound system, and comfort seats offering a pressure point massage function, the ID.7 ensures a comfortable and immersive driving experience. The model also introduces a switchable panoramic glass roof with smart glass, offering touch-controlled opacity and reflective properties for enhanced comfort in various weather conditions.
